Marián Ševčík

Marián belongs among the significant jazz musicians not only in Slovakia and Czech Republic, but all across Europe. He studied percussions at the Žilina Music College (SK) and Bratislava Classic Music College (SK). He performed at jazz festivals in Austria, Germany, Sweden, Great Britain, France, Holland, and many other countries. He participated at several Leroy Lowe’s workshops, Juraj Bartoš‘s Hot House projects, played with Peter Cardarelli Quartet, Ondrej Krajňák Trio, Luboš Šrámek Pět Důvodů, Milo Suchomel Quartet, Tariška-Carniaux Sextet, Matúš Jakabčic Big Band, Pavel Wlosok and Harry Sokal Quintet. He cooperated with great musicians such as Greg Burk (USA), Risk Šiling (USA), Gabor Winand, Harry Sokal, Jure Pukl, George Mraz (USA), Ryan Carniaux, Alex Sipiagin, Igor Butman, Peter Cardanelli (USA), Anna Loverrgiac (IT), Olivier Kent (AT), Marek Balela (PL). In 2008 he received the “Jazzman of the Year” award in Slovakia.

For several years now he has cooperated with Ida Kelarova and Jazz Famelija. He significantly contributed to the success of the joint jazz standards concert of the Ida Kelarova and Iva Bittova sisters at the Lucerna hall in Prague.
