Presentation/ Michal (Mižu) Mižigár):
ROMA LIFE – ROMANO DŽIVIPEN
Michal will present the simple truths that are hidden beneath the “Roma” label.
His presentation will include descriptions of Roma History and Life. The life’s of Roma, from pregnancy, birth, through to puberty, marriage, life and death of the Roma. He will also introduce Roma traditions, history, modern society issues, dance, culture, music and identity.
All visitors and listeners will therefore have access to information, which they would otherwise not be able to research. Michal is well known for harboring a talent for entertaining all participants. We have all been witness to and touched by Michal’s ability to engross himself and even the most enlightened scholar listeners in fresh information. His presentations are considered highly by many experts in the field and offer all listeners an experience not to be forgotten, including current Roma stories, jokes and legends. These facts distance Michal’s presentations from the stereotypical, dry, characterless presentations known to many of us worldwide.
One of the stories, known to many of us already is TRIN VLACHY, which humorously deals with a settled Roma and his family and 3 “Sinty“ brothers who long for prosperity. The settled Roma cleverly uses the 3 brothers foolishness to his advantage.
ROMA DEPARTURE FROM INDIA TO EUROPE
So what are the actual facts connected to the Romany departure from India. Why and how did the exodus start? What did they come across and stumble upon on the way? Romany history throughout the middle ages, WWII and modern history.
THE ROMA LANGUAGE AS AN INDO-EUROPEAN LANGUAGE AND PHRASES OF SONGS
The International workshop Romano Drom, in partnership with Ida Kelarova and other Roma Singers, scholars and artists will focus on teaching the true meaning hidden beneath some of the texts to traditional Roma Songs.
Michal will not only guide you through the basics to the Roma language in his morning class, but also offer the deeper meanings to the texts taught at the workshops.
the list of lectures and presentations is not complete yet, we´ll complete it gradually
